How the estimate works
- Maths 0580: the two papers on your tier count equally (Paper 1 + Paper 3 on Core, Paper 2 + Paper 4 on Extended).
- Chemistry, Biology and Physics: multiple choice is 30%, theory 50% and the practical paper 20% of the grade.
- Your marks become one weighted percentage, which is compared with illustrative grade thresholds.
Why it can only be an estimate
Cambridge sets the grade thresholds after each exam series, based on how hard the papers were. They can move by several marks from one year to the next, and they differ between subjects. Use the grade as a rough guide to where you are and how far the next grade is, not as a promise.
Getting more from it
Use full papers done in exam conditions, marked strictly with the mark scheme. Then look at where the lost marks were: they tell you much more than the grade does.

Are these the real grade boundaries?
No. Real thresholds are published by Cambridge after each series and change every time. This tool uses illustrative thresholds so you can see roughly where you stand.
What is the highest grade on Core?
Core papers give grades C to G. To get A* to B you need to sit the Extended papers.
Can I leave a paper blank?
Yes. The estimate uses the papers you fill in and rescales their weights.
